Ajinkya Rahane’s inclusion in the Indian team squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) finals underlines his incredible comeback story. After being ousted from the Test squad of India, of which he was an integral part, Rahane has staged a comeback.
Shreyas Iyer’s injury is one of the reasons why Rahane has been called back into the squad. Another reason is that he has been performing well in the domestic set-up of India and he is in red-hot form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
The apex body of Indian cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) consulted MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma and took the call of including him as his rich experience would help India in England.

The batter from Mumbai has been in solid form for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He has dialled back a few years and we can see Rahane from his heydays. In just 8 games, he has mustered 224 runs and has a good average of 44.80.
Rahane is in blistering form and this will most certainly bode well for India and also his confidence levels when he plays in the team.
2. Rahane has a lot of experience under his belt
Having already played 82 Test matches, 90 ODIs and 20 T20Is for India, the 34-year-old cricketer is a veteran of the Indian cricket team. He was the vice-captain of the Indian Test team and also led India to a 2-1 victory in the Border Gavaskar Test series 2020-21 after being 0-1 down.
Ajinkya Rahane’s truckloads of experience will certainly help skipper Rohit Sharma in the decision-making and he can use his insights into helping India win and also scoring some crucial and valuable runs for India.
