It is going to be Pant Vs Kohl battle at Ahmedabad. In the 22nd match of the Indian Premier League 2021 season, the two free-stroke-playing teams will take on each other. Today it is the mouth-watering clash between Kohli’s RCB – Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pant’s DC – Delhi Capitals.
RCB’s winning streak has come to a halt. The Yellow Army, Chennai Super Kings, has stopped the Royal Challengers Bangalore from winning five out of five games.
While Pant’s DC men have had a high confidence-boosting win over the orange Army, Sunrisers Hyderabad, where Delhi Capitals clinched the super over win to climb up to the second spot, RCB is on the third rank in the points table.
Royal Challengers Bangalore – RCB
Today’s encounter is between the second and the third-ranked team of the IPL 2021 season, and the contest is also between the two teams who have not lifted the IPL title even once in the last 13 years.
Every year, Royal Challengers Bangalore are expected to end their IPL title drought. But every season, they disappoint their fans. Last year they made it to the playoffs, but they couldn’t cross the final hurdle, and in 13 years of Indian Premier League, RCB has been in the final just three times. But their performances weren’t upto the mark to lift the title.
This year again, it seems that RCB has a good team. With Maxwell firing and Jamieson playing cameos as an all-rounder, the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore looks well settled. Harshal Patel and Mohammad Siraj, to are have been doing a wonderful job for them till now. Before RCB faced CSK, Virat and his men were on a four-match winning streak. But now they have faced the lone loss of this season, and it would be interesting to see how Royal Challengers bounce from here.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had a game in control till the last over was bowled by Harshal Patel, where he gave away 37 runs in one over. That shifted the momentum completely in favor of CSK, and from that point, it was too tough for RCB to bounce back.
In today’s game, Virat-led Royal Challengers Bangalore will make sure that they will not give such performance in upcoming games, and the team management of Royal Challengers Bangalore will not drop Harshal Patel and Mohammad Siraj because of one bad performance as they have been good for them until now.
The RCB openers started well for them in the run chase of 191 runs. But when Virat Kohli was dismissed, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost wickets in a heap to Jadeja and Tahir. The power hitters like AB De Villiers and Glenn Maxwell too couldn’t bat in the middle order, and that is why they lost the last match by a big margin.
RCB needs a pure batsman at the number three position. They have tried Rajat Patidar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Washington Sundar in those positions.
But it hasn’t worked for them. For today’s contest, Royal Challenges Bangalore can try Sachin Baby at the number three position. The 32-year-old batsman from Kerala has played 18 IPL matches so far, and there would be no harm in trying this pure batsman.
RCB will want their bowlers to step up from this game. After the last over went for too many, Harshal Patel is expected to bounce back in a good fashion. With no Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa in their squad from now, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have limited options with the ball, which can be a worrying factor for them.
DC – Delhi Capitals
After the superb super over win, DC – Delhi Capitals will be high on the confidence. They are on a fourth-match winning streak, and it doesn’t look like that would be broken. Delhi Capitals can bounce back from any situation, which they showed against Sunrisera Hyderabad on Sunday.
But still, they can rethink having Steve Smith in their playing XI. The former captain of Australia and Rajasthan Royals can be a captaincy material just like Ajinkya Rahane. Both Rahane and Smith do not fit into a T20 format as they are more effective in the Test and ODI games. DC can play with Hetmyer, Stoinis, Rabada, and Nortje as their four overseas players in their playing XI.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s has pulled out from the IPL 2021 season mid-way, which is a big blow for them. But Delhi Capitals – DC do not need to worry as Axar Patel, and Amit Mishra are in good form. Axar recovered from COVID 19, and he straight away did the job for Delhi Capitals in the game against SRH. So DC has spin bowling all-rounder in place of Ashwin.
Rabada and Nortje can be lethal again for Delhi Capitals, just as they were in the IPL 2020 season. With Avesh Khan giving some crucial breakthroughs, Rabada and Nortje can also dent the RCB batting unit with their pace and accuracy. The pace battery of DC is more lethal, and the spin of the attack also looks fine even without their lead spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
