Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered their 2nd victory in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after their 63-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT).
The young and dynamic captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, can heave a sigh of relief as he registered 2 victories in 2 games in the ongoing IPL 2024. Chennai maintained their superb win record at Chepauk Stadium and proved to everyone that they are continuing from where they left off in the previous season.
Chennai would be looking to pay a fitting tribute to MS Dhoni who perhaps can play his last IPL. If Chennai qualifies to the finals, then MS Dhoni could play his last IPL game at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
In this article, we take a look at the top 3 talking points of CSK vs GT in the ongoing IPL 2024:
1. Shivam Dube’s blistering innings
If Rashid Khan wouldn’t have dismissed Shivam Dube at the fag end of the 1st innings, then CSK would have crossed the 220 mark and would have scored more than their 1st innings total of 206 runs.
Shivam Dube smashed 51 runs off just 23 balls and sent shockwaves down the spines of the opposition bowlers.
2. Gujarat batters slipping on a banana peel
When a team is chasing an intimidating total of 207 runs at the Chepauk, then a good start is a bare necessity. But Gujarat Titans failed to get a good start and kept losing wickets in regular intervals.
David Miller’s wicket in the 12th over was perhaps the final nail in the coffin as only a swashbuckling and power-hitting batter like David Miller could have finished off the innings and could have capped it off with a win.
3. Chennai bowlers being consistent
Just like Chennai is not dependent on any single batter in their batting department, the 5-time IPL champions aren’t dependent on any single bowler in their bowling department.
Chennai Super Kings’ bowlers performed well and Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande had taken 2 wickets each and had set the stage for Chennai’s victory in front of their home crowd.
Daryl Mitchell and impact player Matheesha Pathirana too had taken a wicket in this innings.
