Battlegrounds Mobile India, or BGMI, has been the driving force for the emergence of eSports in India in many ways. The game, until it was banned, was played far and wide in the country. BGMI was one of the most popular games and witnessed immense participation in eSports competitions as well. Part of the popularity of the sport is owing to the fact that it bears resemblance to the erstwhile PUBG Mobile, which was also banned. Fans are eagerly waiting for the return of BGMI. Meanwhile, popular BGMI players have been sharing their two cents of various aspects of the game.

MrJayPlays and Mortal streamed the PMGC Last Chance Day 1 a few days ago. Jehanzeb posed a question to Mortal about Battlegrounds Mobile India. He asked about the success of the Indian and Pakistani BGMI teams in international competitions. Mortal went on to say that even though Indian teams have no dearth of talent, they tend to fall short in international tournaments. He stated that this is most likely due to a lack of confidence and mental unpreparedness.

Mortal on Indian BGMI teams

Many Indian eSports teams like S8uL eSports, and GodLike eSports, have showcased their prowess when it comes to tournaments within the country. However, the same teams have failed to prove themselves in the international arena. This is quite baffling. MrJayPlays or Jehanzeb is a well-known streamer from Pakistan. He currently creates content for BGMI. he asked Naman “Mortal” Mathur about the reasons why Indian teams don’t consistently put up strong performances on international platforms. Mortal responded by saying, “They underperform due to their underconfidence and nothing else as they have the skills. Underconfidence persists when one is not mentally prepared to face global teams. Players can get better if they start preparing themselves mentally. That’s all. Considering our skills, we are at par with global teams.”

The Indian star even suggested that the participating teams should prepare themselves mentally before facing the global players.
