Battlegrounds Mobile India or BGMI and Free Fire are both battle-royale games based on survival. Free Fire rose in popularity particularly when PUBG Mobile and BGMI were banned in India. Considering that the game was modeled to be an alternative for PUBG Mobile and BGMI, a major chunk of the gameplay is the same in both games. However, there are still a few stark differences between the two. We will discuss a few of the major differences here below.
1. Characters
Free Fire provides users with a variety of options for characters. Additionally, new characters are continually introduced. Free Fire offers Evo and Adam as two free characters at the game’s beginning. You may unlock the remaining characters when you use up the in-game currency. Every character has unique abilities that may be improved by using them more frequently. However, there aren’t any such options in BGMI. The character has no impact on the abilities and serves merely for aesthetic appeal. Players can modify their appearance, clothes, and accessories, but they serve no real purpose.
2. Vehicles
Although both games offer a wide variety of vehicles that players can choose from, BGMI has more options such as traveling through the water via boats. In Free Fire, players can pick from either cars or bikes.
3. Maps
Both BGMI and Free Fire have different maps that players can play to mix things up. It makes the gameplay a lot more exciting. However, the maps in Free Fire are quite similar to each other. On the other hand, the maps in BGMI all are completely different from each other, with different timings, number of payers spawning, etc.
4. Gunplay
The gunplay in Free Fire is relatively simpler. Even beginners who don’t often play shooter games on phones can play with the help of aim assist. In BGMI, there is no aim assist and the gunplay can be a little more difficult to master.
5. Skill and pet system
The mechanisms that only Free Fire features are the skill and pet systems. It gives players several character customization options. The mechanism is operational in every mode, including team-based clash squads and serious BR matches. Free Fire players must additionally factor in skill activation. BGMI lacks this feature and is primarily geared toward gunplay.
BGMI vs. Free Fire – Which is better?
Although both games are quite similar, free fire is more beginner friendly and kid-friendly. However, for more serious gamers, BGMI would be more enjoyable. Considering that BGMI is now banned in India and Free Fire MAX, the Indian counterpart of Free Fire is still available, players can opt to play Free Fire MAX.
