With patch 13.5, all League of Legends champions will have their selling prices changed, as per Riot Games. Riot intends to make it simpler for novice League players to acquire champions by altering both the blue essence and RP values for all champions. The new champion costs will take into account both the champions’ release date and the amount of expertise needed to master them.
Riot called their current price structure “a bit archaic,” noting that it does not reflect how they believe players should be able to obtain their champions in 2023. Jordan “BarackProbama” Checkman and August Browning stated, “We plan to keep the existing flow of new champions having an initially higher price point and being discounted after a week. With an additional discount after two seasons where they’ll be placed in a tier based on the data we see with new and returning players.”
League of Legends new prices
For champions like Malphite, Miss Fortune, and Yuumi, the starting pricing will be 450 BE / 260 RP. The champions in League of Legends that follow them will be slightly “more sophisticated” than those in the bottom tier, but still accessible for those that are interested. Players will be able to find Yasuo, Lucian, and Sett among these champions, which will cost 1350 BE / 585 RP. Champions in the third tier will cost 3150 BE / 790 RP. LeBlanc, Shaco, and Yorick are among the fall champions in this tier. According to Riot, these players “have steeper learning curves to climb before one sees consistent success with them.”
Fourth tier, players can anticipate that only the Virtuoso Jhin will be sold at 4444 BE / 880 RP . Most of the champions will cost 4800 BE / 880 RP in the store. The top tier, which is offered at 7800 BE / 975 RP the week of the champion’s delivery in the client, is tied to the champion’s release. All of the champions from the previous two seasons will be listed at 6300 BE / 975 RP below that. Once they have completed their third season in the game, the final category of champions will be promoted to one of the top five tiers.
Price increases
Four specific champions will see price increases because, according to Riot’s analytics, new players are less likely to succeed with them. The pricing for Singed, Kayle, Twisted Fate, and Ryze will be 4800 BE and 260 RP, respectively. According to Riot, this is done to make sure that players that want quick access to them may still do so.
In the future, Riot will also modify the costs of additional champions while taking into consideration potential Visual/Gameplay Updates, Core Gameplay Updates, or Midscope Changes.
