The government of India banned Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a well-known game modelled on the gameplay of PUBG Mobile. The government claimed that the game was violating the country’s security by citing section 69A of the IT Act. The game’s creators, Krafton, have reassured us that they are working to fix this. The reintroduction of the game to the Indian market is highly anticipated by its players.
Indian gamers on BGMI return
Naman Mathur, otherwise named MortaL, the well-known streamer, spoke about BGMI during the newly launched Spotify podcast Gamers Unplugged hosted by Indian gaming influencer Dynamo. He also spoke about other incidents and situations that he had to deal with throughout his career.
MortaL said that several gamers from the Indian community had been enquiring to him about BGMI’s return. He stated that he is currently unaware of the return date of BGMI, but that Krafton will definitely let the entire community know when there is some information available. He said that he does not receive any information about the inner workings of the game from official sources.
He added that there hasn’t been any news regarding the game coming back to the market as of now. Saumraj, another popular gamer stated that players should keep their hopes alive as the game will definitely return. He added that the game will most likely return by 2023.
When will BGMI return?
Initially, rumours suggested that BGMI will be unbanned by September 2022, albeit it did not happen so. The rumours are now afloat that it will return by the beginning of 2023. However, there has been no official statement or announcement about this. Therefore, fans should wait rather than believing unsubstantiated rumours. Krafton seems confident that they will undoubtedly remove the ban from both Android and iOS devices.
