As the year comes to an end, the 2023 season of tournaments and eSports action is in sight. We can expect an increase in the eSports tournaments and also the intensity of each tournament. Riot is providing more significant information as the start of the partnership era of VALORANT and the start of the 2023 VALORANT Champions Tour season approaches. Now, Riot Games has released the 2023 VCT schedule. In the regular seasons, almost every day will include high-level VALORANT, with Tuesdays being the sole exception.
Valorant VCT 2023 Schedule
- VCT EMEA matches will take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, beginning at 11am CT.
- VCT Pacific matches will take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, beginning at 3am CT.
- VCT Americas matches will take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, beginning at 2pm CT.
The Riot Games Esports team outlined their rationale for how it planned pro-VALORANT and League of Legends matches beginning in 2023 in its Esports Broadcast Update article. Minimizing the overlap between various games in the same region and between different regions in the same game was one of the team’s top priorities.
Reasons
Matches in the VCT Americas and VCT EMEA will occur on days other than those in the LCS and LEC, respectively. In addition, fans who just enjoy VALORANT may theoretically watch games from all three international leagues without having games from various locations cross over.
Riot intended to lessen instances of binge-watching in addition to crossover that forces viewers to pick between matches, noting that most of the viewers claimed they felt “exhausted” after a full day of League esports.
However, these schedules won’t be used for VALORANT and the VCT until the second season of the 2023 calendar. This will not begin until around April or May. The LOCK/IN tournament in So Paulo, Brazil, including all 30 linked clubs, will substitute the first split of the year for the first year including the partnered worldwide leagues.
