The FIFA World Cup 2022 had a heart-throbbing final. The ones with a heart problem suffered a lot as the match was filled with several ups and downs of both the teams. While on one hand it was the skill and experience of the 35-year-old Lionel Messi, on the other hand, the pace and young blood of Kylian Mbappe took centre-stage at the Lusail Stadium.
Kylian Mbappe netted a hat-trick in the final as he single-handedly gave France a chance. After the first-half, the French football team had their backs against the walls as Lionel Messi’s Argentina had scored 2 goals. They were dominating possession right from the word go and did not allow the France team to pierce through their defenders. Naturally, the Argentina defenders were posing as pertinent headaches to the strikers of France.
But the tide completely shifted during the second half as Kylian Mbappe scored 2 goals and brought France back into the game. The extra-time too witnessed a fierce contest between the two sides and they could not be separated. Ultimately, the penalty shoot-out decided the fate of the final. The score-line read 4-2 in the penalties and France failed to defend their title.
Post the final, there were a lot of awards that were given. The awards were a testament to the skill, hard-work and determination put in by the players during the course of the tournament. The tournament which started on 20th November 2022 ended yesterday amidst a glittering final event.
