Despite a fighting spirit displayed by the Morocco football team, they crashed out of contention for the FIFA World Cup as the France football team won the game 2-0. Most football fans across the globe were rooting for Morocco. This is simply because it is there in our inherent nature to always support the underdogs. And in yesterday’s game, Morocco was the underdogs.
Theo Hernandez scored the opening goal of the match in just the 5th minute and helped Les Bleus get the lead. Even though Morocco had several opportunities to equalize, it was just not their night. The North African team displayed a fearsome brand of football as they were neck-to-neck with the reigning champions of the FIFA World Cup.
Substitute Randal Kolo Muani scored the 2nd goal for Morocco as they secured their place in the finals of the coveted FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. France has been on a roll and even without the services of their talismanic striker Karim Benzema, they have been a juggernaut in this tournament.
Muani had scored the 2nd goal in the match and by then the match was out of Morocco’s hands. However, the African team was exceptional in this game and definitely was an inspiration for everyone in the footballing community. They previously defeated the likes of Spain, Portugal, and Belgium. In all these games, Morocco kept clean sheets and they displayed great footballing prowess.
France will now lock horns with Argentina in the finals whereas Morocco will be crossing swords with Croatia in the 3rd place match in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
The FIFA World Cup 2022 has boiled down to its last two games and the stakes are extremely high. Both France and Argentina have so far won 2 FIFA World Cups each and they will be hoping to win their 3rd title.
