Durand 2022: Hyderabad FC cruise into quarter-finals in style; FC Goa stage epic comeback against Bengaluru United

As we head closer to the quarter finals of the Durand Cup 2022, each match becomes increasingly important for the teams. Teams now are looking to solidify their position in their respective tables and are ensuring that they safely qualify for the next round.

Hyderabad FC romped to a 3-0 victory against NEROCA FC to seal their place in the next stage. ISL 2021-22 Golden Boot winner Bartholomew Ogbeche scored a brace. Also, Joel Chianese scored one early goal to put the Nizams in pole position in the game.

Hyderabad FC were dominant from the word go as they scored 2 goals within the first 20 minutes. They continued their excellent form after winning the Indian Super League (ISL) in 2021-22.

NEROCA FC defenders were sloppy in the match and defender David Simbo suffered a head injury during the game. With this victory, Hyderabad FC qualify for the quarter finals of Durand Cup 2022.

FC Goa stage comeback to draw with Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC would rue their luck as they lost an easy victory against FC Goa. The defending champions of the Durand Cup were 0-2 down after the first half.

However, they weaved magic in the second-half. Phrangki Buam and Lesly Rebello netted goals in the second half to make sure FC Goa end on a high and end with a stalemate against the Sunil Chhetri-led Bengaluru FC.

Skipper Chhetri and N Siva Sakthi scored the goals for the Blues. Bengaluru FC now sit in the second-position of their table, just behind Mohammedan SC who have won 3 out of 3.

FC Goa have finished all their 4 matches and bowed out of the tournament.
