The Indian football season has kickstarted with the commencement of I-League 3, which is the fourth-tier football league in India. It is I-League 2 and I-League 3, that helps teams get into the mix of Indian football and provides the players, a golden opportunity to prove their skills and mettle.
I-League 3 2024-25 kickstarted with the 5 groups having a single-leg round-robin league. The top 2 teams will be the ones that qualify for the next round.
A total of 10 teams will qualify from the 5 groups and then these teams will be divided into 2 groups of 5 each. Once again, a single-leg round-robin style league will happen at a neutral venue for the two teams.
The toppers of these groups will go and play the finals of I-League 3 2024-25 and both of the teams will be qualifying to the next round. While the winner of this game is deemed as the champion of the entire I-League 2024-25, then losing team will be adjudged as the runners-up of this competition.
On the other hand, the two second-played teams in the groups will be earning a qualification to I-League 2 2024-25 and the two third-placed teams will be earning a spot in the I-League 2 2025-26.
The entire system is quite robust and competitive and hence they have to be extremely good in their matches and try and win every game.
How does the standings of I-League 3 2024-25 look like presently?
At the time of writing this article, Group A is being dominated by the likes of SAT Tirur and Diamond Harbour FC, are they are presently in the 1st and the 2nd positions respectively. Tirur has registered 1 victory and 1 draw and Diamon Harbour, which is coached by I-League-winning manager Kibu Vicuna, defeated Ghaziabad City FC 3-0, in their first game.
In Group B, Kerala United, who were the champions of the Kerala Premier League 2023-24, are right in pole position with 4 points under their belt.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Sporting Club and KLASA are presently in the top position in Group C and Group D respectively.
Group E has Downtown Heroes as the topper of the group and they kickstarted their I-League 3 2024-25 campaign with a 2-0 victory against Abbas Union FC.
