It didn’t take Juan Ferrando’s ATK Mohun Bagan much time to bounce back into winning ways after their shock loss at the hands of NorthEast United FC in their previous game. In front of their home crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium, ATK Mohun Bagan defeated FC Goa 2-1 and got their Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 campaign back on track.
Dimitri Petratos gave the home side a lead in the 9th minute of the game itself and helped ATK Mohun Bagan stamp their authority early on in this game. Even though the Gaurs dominated possession in the game with the percentage at the end of the game reading 57-43 in favor of them, ATK Mohun Bagan had the last laugh in this game.
FC Goa staged a superb comeback in the 25th minute of the game itself to draw level with the Mariners. Anwar Ali scored the goal for Carlos Pena’s side and registered his first goal in ISL 2022-23. The 22-year-old center-back has 2 assists under his belt for FC Goa and has been one of the finest players for the Gaurs this season.
The score-line at the end of the halfway stage read 1-1 with nothing being able to separate the two sides. However, quite early on in the second half, ATK Mohun Bagan found their 2nd goal and took a lead in the game.
Hugo Boumous continued his goal-scoring form for ATK Mohun Bagan
Hugo Boumous netted the goal for the home side and made sure they have the lead in this crucial fixture for the Maroon and Green Brigade. The 27-year-old midfielder scored his 4th goal in the ISL 2022-23 and helped ATK Mohun Bagan climb to the 3rd spot in the ISL 2022-23 table.
FC Goa on the other hand is in the 5th position and has 19 points under their belt. Carlos Pena’s side will now be hosting defending champions Hyderabad FC on 5th January 2023 in their first game of 2023.
ATK Mohun Bagan will have more than a 2-week break before their next game. They next will be hosting Mumbai City FC at the Salt Lake Stadium on 14th January 2023.
