ISL 2022-23: ATK Mohun Bagan Stage Come-From-Behind Victory Against Kerala Blasters FC

ATK Mohun Bagan came back from trailing from a goal to register a 2-1 victory against Kerala Blasters FC in this Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 game. This is Ivan Vukomanovich’s side’s 2nd loss at the Salt Lake Stadium in this ISL season.

Earlier, the Yellow Army had lost 0-1 to East Bengal FC, courtesy of Cleiton Silva’s goal. The win propelled the ATK Mohun Bagan side to the playoffs as Juan Ferrando’s men sealed a spot in the last 6.

Kerala Blasters FC had opened the goal-scoring account of the match in the 16th minute itself after Dimitrios Diamantakos had netted a goal.

Apostolos Giannou gave a one-touch pass to the path of Diamantakos and he netted the ball home with perfection.

ATK Mohun Bagan kept their nerves and then went on to stage a comeback in front of their home crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Carl McHugh had netted a brace in this game.

In the 23rd minute, the Irish defensive midfielder executed a minute touch to a powerful freekick from Dimitri Petratos. The close-range shot resulted in ATK Mohun Bagan come on level ground with the visitors in this ISL 2022-23 game.

The half-time score read 1-1 and the match was even-stevens. Kerala Blasters FC were a man down in the 64th minute as Rahul KP was sent off by the referee.

McHugh doubled his and the team’s goals in this match as he scored a goal in the 71st minute of the game.

After Asish Rai whipped in a cross from the right wing, Manvir Singh pushed the ball to the path of McHugh who then scored the goal from the back of his boot.

This win helped ATK Mohun Bagan become the 5th team to qualify for the ISL 2022-23 playoffs. ATK Mohun Bagan next lock horns with East Bengal FC in the high-voltage Kolkata Derby on 25th February 2023 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
