ISL 2022-23: Bengaluru FC Go Down 0-1 To ATK Mohun Bagan

Date:

Sunil Chhetri’s Bengaluru FC faced a stern test against the ATK Mohun Bagan side and they failed in it. Bengaluru FC is now reeling at the 9th position in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 points table and are below East Bengal FC.

The score-line of this game at the Shree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru read 1-0 in favour of the Mariners. Dimitri Petratos netted the goal for ATK Mohun Bagan. A long-range shot from the Australian in the 66th minute broke the deadlock of goals between the two teams and powered ATK Mohun Bagan to 3 points.

Bengaluru FC had started the game on a good note with Simon Grayson’s men pressing real hard and posing as a pertinent headache for the defenders of ATK Mohun Bagan. Javi Hernandez missed a golden opportunity of scoring in the 5th minute when he was in a one-on-one position with the ATK Mohun Bagan goalkeeper, Vishal Kaith.

The win makes ATK Mohun Bagan stay on the 4th position in the ISL 2022-23 points table. Juan Ferrando’s men have registered 5 wins in 8 games and are two points short of 3rd placed Odisha FC. On the other hand, problems keep surging for Bengaluru FC as they slumped to their 5th defeat in ISL 2022-23.

The Blues need a quick turnaround of their fortunes. It is quite disappointing to see the Blues’ performance in ISL 2022-23, especially after their Durand Cup 2022 triumph. Everybody expected that Simon Grayson’s boys would be translating their winning momentum on to the ISL as well.

The Blues next play Kerala Blasters FC on 11th December 2022 in an away game. ATK Mohun Bagan lock horns with Jamshedpur FC on 8th December 2022 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Both the matches will provide the teams with a golden opportunity to get 3 crucial points.
