FC Goa vs Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC registered two wins out of two after they defeated FC Goa 2-1 in yesterday’s Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 game. After winning against East Bengal FC 2-0 in the previous game, Thomas Brdaric’s men continued their winning run.

With this loss, FC Goa’s chances of qualification become very tough and they have to depend on other games’ results for their place in the playoffs in the ongoing ISL 2022-23.

Kwame Karikari broke the deadlock between the two sides in the 10th minute of the game. After receiving a low ball from Vincy Baretto in the left flank, Kwame Karikari drew first blood for the Chennai Machans with his goal.

FC Goa’s leading goal-scorer in ISL 2022-23 Noah Sadaoui netted yet another goal and equalized for the home time in the 49th minute. Edu Bedia flashed a long ball from the midfield and it was received well by Sadaoui, who went and scored the equalizer for FC Goa.

Dheeraj Moirangthem took out skipper Anirudh Thapa in the 72nd minute and that eventually gave Chennaiyin FC a penalty. Kwame Karikari scored from the spot and made sure the visitors have another goal under their belt in this particular game.

The final score-line read 2-1 in favor of Chennaiyin FC and this gave FC Goa a major blow to their playoffs qualification dream. Carlos Pena’s Gaurs now are in the 6th position in the points table of ISL 2022-23.

Odisha FC is in the 7th position and has the same points as FC Goa, but has played a game less. They would be fancying their chances of going through to the ISL 2022-23 playoffs.
