ATK Mohun Bagan was formed in July 2020 after the merger of two football clubs, Mohun Bagan and ATK. While Mohun Bagan was the oldest football club in India, ATK was one of the first teams of the ISL in 2014. Mohun Bagan was established in 1889.
Since the merger, the team has been quite dominant and has been a force to reckon with in the ISL. In ISL 2021-22, ATK Mohun Bagan finished as the semi-finalist. Even in the ongoing ISL 2022-23, the Kolkata-based team is in the top half of the table and look on course to qualify for the playoffs.
Kolkata Games and Sports which is a consortium led by business tycoon Sanjiv Goenka owns this football club. Goenka is their principal owner and Mohun Bagan FC is their co-owner.
