NorthEast United FC win

The hardships and despair ended for the Highlanders. They can now enjoy Christmas properly as they won their first Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 game. If one reads through the comments section of the Instagram account of the NorthEast United FC team, they would know what this victory means for the fans.

Only a handful of fans stuck with NorthEast United FC through thick and thin. Christmas came early for them. They will be enjoying 25th December 2022 with all the happiness and joy in the world.

At the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, Wilmar Jordan’s header in the 69th minute made sure the Highlanders get the better off their Kolkata counterparts. It was a lovely cross from the Indian youngster Emil Benny. A power-packed header rattled the back of the net as Vishal Kaith watched the match slip away from him and his teammates.

Even though ATK Mohun Bagan dominated the game and made sure they have shots on target, the goals did not come. NorthEast United FC custodian Mirshad Michu had an amazing day as he made several saves and registered his first clean sheet of the ISL 2022-23 season.

Another notable thing about NorthEast United FC in this game was that they did not apply the strategy of “Park the bus” in this game even after scoring a goal. They were quite fearless with their attacking approach and tried looking for the second goal.

Head Coach Vincenzo Annesse would be happy with his team NorthEast United FC’s performance

This is the first victory of NorthEast United FC in ISL 2022-23 and Head Coach Vincenzo Annesse would be mighty pleased with his side’s splendid performance. They will be next playing Hyderabad FC in an away game on 29th December 2022.

On the other hand, ATK Mohun Bagan failed to close-in on the gap with table-toppers Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC. They now might as well slip out of top 3 as the difference in points between them and FC Goa is just 1 point.

The Mariners will next be locking horns with FC Goa at the Salt Lake Stadium on 28th December 2022.
