ISL 2022-23: Who Can Be The Two Finalists Of This Year’s ISL?

ATK Mohun Bagan vs Bengaluru FC

The cash-rich and glamorous Indian Super League (ISL) is all set to enter into its 9th edition and this proves the success of the league. Started way back in 2014, the league has been quite revolutionary in its nature.

The ISL 2022-23 will be played in a home and away format and each team will be playing 20 matches. After a hiatus of 2 years, ISL is all set to welcome back the fans to the stadiums. The last couple of seasons was played behind closed doors because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

All teams look extremely potent and will have match practice as the Durand Cup 2022 was the first edition where all the 11 ISL teams took part in. While some of the franchises fielded their reserve teams, most of the clubs had their main players play in the league.

While underdogs Hyderabad FC won the ISL title last season, Kerala Blasters finished as the runners-up.

Bengaluru FC, who won the Durand Cup 2022 look an extremely formidable and potent side. With a new head coach in the form of Simon Grayson at the helm, the side looks composed and the players played in sync in the Durand Cup sojourn. They definitely have the firepower to reach the finals.

The highlight of their campaign was Sivasakhti Narayanan as the youngster played with great fortitude and grit. He netted 4 goals in the tournament and was Bengaluru FC’s top goal-scorer. With Sunil Chhetri and Roy Krishna already in Bengaluru FC’s striking position, Sivasakhti can be another potent addition. His creative performances with the ball often puts the opposition defenders under the pump.

On the other hand, we strongly believe ATK Mohun Bagan can be the other finalist of ISL 2022-23. Even though they had an underwhelming Durand Cup campaign, there were huge positives in Juan Ferrando’s side.

The likes of Hugo Boumous and Liston Colaco can pierce through the defence departments of opposition teams and pose as pertinent headaches for the opposition defenders. Colaco scored 8 goals for the Mariners last season and French-Moroccan footballer Hugo Boumous found his name on the goal-scoring sheet on 5 occasions.

ATK Mohun Bagan (formerly known as Atletico de Kolkata in ISL) have already won the ISL title on 3 occasions and are the league’s most successful side. They most certainly can win their 4th title, in this year.
