ISL 2023-24: Hyderabad FC Secure Services Of Brazilian Striker Felipe Amorim

Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 winners Hyderabad FC have secured the services of Brazilian striker Felipe Amorim. The 32-year-old attacking forward is the 4th additional signing of The Nizams.

The other new foreign signings of Hyderabad FC in this season are Jonathan Moya, Petteri Pennanen and Joe Knowles. All of them would be hoping to conjure magic on the field and inspire Hyderabad FC to another title.

After their title-winning coach Manolo Marquez parted ways, Hyderabad FC took on board Thangboi Singto as the Head Coach of the first-team. Singto was the assistant coach of The Nizams for 2 seasons.

He also has Irishman Conor Nestor alongside him as Hyderabad FC has ticked all boxes in having a good preparation ahead of ISL 2023-24.

“The 32-year-old will join HFC on a one-year deal and will be a part of the squad ahead of the 2023-24 campaign,” Hyderabad FC said in a statement.

Felipe Amorim is expected to play in the left wing for The Nizams as they embark on a bid to win their 2nd ISL title.

“I am very happy to sign for Hyderabad FC. “My aim is to bring success to this club and I am excited to be playing in the Indian Super League,” said Amorim.

“I want to pass on my experience to the younger players at the club. I also want that experience to be an example to all my teammates and hopefully, we can work hard as a team in the upcoming season,” the Brazilian added.

Felipe Amorim is quite experienced

Having plied his trade for several football clubs, Felipe Amorim is expected to bring oodles of experience to the Hyderabad FC side. He has previously played for Thai club Chiangrai United in 64 games and has netted 12 goals.

Amorim has prior to that, represented Suphanburi and Guarani (on loan). An exceptional winger, Amorim can battle down the wings and can whip in some solid crosses in the football field.

He is expected to be a force to reckon with and the opposition team defenders are expected to be vary of his threats.

Hyderabad FC failed to qualify for the playoffs in Durand Cup 2023

Despite winning against Tribhuwan Army 3-0 and drawing against Delhi FC 1-1, The Nizams failed to qualify for the quarter finals of Durand Cup 2023. The 1-3 loss against Chennaiyin FC dented their hopes of making it to the playoffs.

Hyderabad FC finished 2nd in Group E and subsequently were in the 5th position in the points table of the group runners-up in the 132nd edition of Asia’s oldest football tournament.

Notably, the top 2 best group runners-up teams qualified for the quarter finals of Durand Cup 2023.
