Manchester United and France defender Raphael Varane has shocked the entire world by calling it quits from international football.
Notably, the 29-year-old solid defender has played in two FIFA World Cup finals and has also won one of them. In the FIFA World Cup 2018, France had lifted the title in Russia after beating Croatia.
Over the course of a decade, Varane has donned the national team jersey on 93 occasions and was a vital cog of the France team.
He made his debut in 2013 in a match against Georgia during the FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifiers. In the Euro Championship 2016, he suffered a thigh injury and couldn’t be part of France’s World Cup campaign. France had lost to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the finals of the Euro 2016.
Raphael Varane had a huge name for himself in Real Madrid and has 236 caps for the Whites. He moved to Manchester United in 2021 and has represented the Red Devils in 37 games so far.
