Premier League 2023-24: How Long Will Trent Alexander-Arnold Miss Out Due To Injury?

Date:

Liverpool suffered a big blow in their last FA Cup game against Arsenal as their vice-captain, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has suffered a knee injury. The right-back of Liverpool will be missing footballing action for round-about 3 weeks.

Playing against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Liverpool had registered a clinical 2-0 victory over the hosts. While Jakub Kiwior had scored an own goal, Luis Diaz of Liverpool had scored a late, extra-time goal.

Despite Arsenal dominating possession during most parts of the game, it was Jurgen Klopp and co. who had the last laugh in this game at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool have had a long list of injury absentees and even their potent striker, Mohammad Salah isn’t available as he is on national duty for Egypt in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Liverpool’s assistant manager, Pepijn Lijnders, spoke about Arnold’s injury and also gave an update on the injuries of a few other players of Liverpool.

“First of all, some not-that-good news, Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game. So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let’s see after that,” said Pepijn Lijnders.

“He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility. We will really miss him,” he added.

Virgil van Dijk is back in contention

After missing the game versus Arsenal because of illness, Lijnders has confirmed that Virgil van Dijk is back in contention.

“Virgil is back. He did some runs yesterday on the pitch, looked good again. So he will be back in the squad, he recovered well. So it really helped him not to travel to London,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Dom is progressing well on the pitch, he’s running, so let’s see. Not available for tomorrow. And then we have Robbo, he’s almost at the three-month mark, so he will get checked by the surgeon,” he also briefly spoke about Dominik Szoboszlai and Andy Robertson.

Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League 2023-24 points table

Jurgen Klopp and co. have been having a fantastic run in the ongoing Premier League 2023-24. With 13 wins in 20 games, Liverpool are at the top of the points table and have lost just 1 game in this season.

They are also in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and will be locking horns with Fulham on 11th January 2024 for the first-leg.
