Manchester United are a metaphor for resilience and they once again proved it to all on Boxing Day as they scripted a fabulous 3-2 win against Aston Villa. Erik Ten Hag and co. were trailing 0-2 against Aston Villa but eventually picked up momentum in the 2nd half.
The 1st half scoreline read 2-0 in favour of Aston Villa and the entire Old Trafford had tensed faces and looks. Aston Villa bossed the 1st half with goals from John McGinn and Leander Dendoncker in the 21st and 26th minutes of the game.
Known for their sheer resilience, the Red Devils staged a fantastic comeback and it was inspired by a goal from Alejandro Garnacho in the 59th minute of the game. Marcus Rashford gave a solid grounded pass from the left from a tight angle to Garnacho on the opposite side.
Garnacho made no error and made a fantastic finish. It was a glittering piece of teamplay followed by a consummate finish from the 19-year-old footballer.

The youngster kept his calm and scored a 2nd goal in the 71st minute of the game at Old Trafford. He scored an absolute piledriver and even though Emiliano Martinez dived completely to his left, he couldn’t stop that left-footed screamer from him.
Notably, this was the first time that the youngster scored a goal for Manchester United. It was surely a memorable moment for him as he could be the reason behind a fabulous comeback from the 13-time Premier League winners in this match.
In the 82nd minute of the game, Manchester United capitalised on a corner to take themselves home. The corner kick came off the deflection of John McGinn and fell in the trajectory of Rasmus Hojlund.
He volleyed the ball towards the goal and after hitting the pole of the opposition goal, it went inside and Manchester United were 3-2 up and ahead in the game.
This victory was undoubtedly one of the most special victories in this season for Manchester United as they managed to successfully exorcize the demons of their 0-2 loss at the hands of West Ham on 23rd December 2023.
