Phil Foden unleashed his beast energy as he helped Manchester City romp home to a 4-1 victory against Aston Villa in the ongoing Premier League 2023-24. The 23-year-old midfielder of City netted a hattrick and ensured that the Cityzens stay alive in the title race.
Despite not having the services of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City was able to register a victory against the 4th-placed Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium. The home fans had an absolute treat as they watched their team cruise to a stunning victory.
Manchester City are presently in the 3rd position in the Premier League 2023-24 points table and the previous edition’s Treble winners need to win all their matches to make sure that they win the Premier League title for the 4th consecutive time.
Notably, Pep Guardiola and co. are the Premier League champions for the past 3 editions and we have seen them rule the roost in this competition.
In this Premier League game on 3rd April 2024, Rodri had opened the goal-scoring account for the Cityzens in the 11th minute. Jhon Duran of Aston Villa had equalised in the 20th minute but it was all one-way traffic post that.
Phil Foden netted 3 goals in the extra-time of the first half followed by a goal in the 62nd minute and then shortly later in the 69th minute to seal the deal for Manchester City.
The likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne were left out from this game and Pep Guardiola referred to the “terrible schedule” for this decision.
“The schedule is terrible and we have to bring energy. Everybody has to be involved,” said Pep Guardiola after the game.
The Spanish football manager also heaped praise on Foden for his outstanding performance at the Etihad Stadium.
“Phil, when he plays in a central position, he has a sense of goal. He’s a really top class player — he has a natural talent, a gift,” said Guardiola.
There were a lot of absentees from Aston Villa too and some of them who missed out on this match were Emiliano Martinez, Ollie Watkins and John McGinn was suspended.
