The Contract is set to be given to Lionel Messi’s father and agent Mr. Jorge Messi. The club expects if the terms and conditions are agreed, Lionel Messi would be a Paris Saint Germain player by the end of the weekend.

Fabrizio Romano, the Italian Sports reporter stated that “Lionel Messi is open to signing for the French side and is keeping PSG as his priority after three other clubs have approached him in different ways. Paris Saint Germain is the only club that has approached Lionel and his father Jorge Messi directly since his official departure from FC Barcelona.”

It has also been confirmed by Pep Guardiola himself that Manchester City is officially out of the race to sign Lionel Messi. The Manchester-based club signed young English Midfielder Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for 100 million pounds. According to news from England, Guardiola may hand City’s number 10 jersey to Jack Grealish.

The mood in the boardroom of Paris Saint Germain is said to be that of confidence and happiness since Friday morning to get the signing of the Argentine Icon. One of the board members even went on to say “It’s a matter of time”.

Barça Presidents Explanation: Following the departure of Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona’s president Mr. Joan Laporta came out on Friday to address and explain the situation.

He started off by criticizing the previous Barcelona board which was led by the controversial ex-President of Barcelona Josep Bartomeu. He said that the salary of the players was not set up properly by the previous board and hence “there was no room to maneuver and still keep in check with the Spanish fair play regulations”.

He said that “Leo wanted to stay at the club and the club wanted the player to stay” but negotiations broke down due to the financial crunch and the club just couldn’t have gone around it.

Laporta also went on to note that Leo Messi’s departure may trigger some sponsors to leave in the future, but the Club will work to explain to the sponsors how the current Barcelona squad is made up of very talented individuals even after the departure of Leo.

What would Messi’s move mean to PSG?

With Lionel Messi in their ranks, PSG would have one of the best attacking options in world football. With the additions of Champions league winners like Sergio Ramos, Giorgio Wijnaldum, and probably Lionel Messi to the squad, PSG can now be termed as the favorites to lift the Champions League title next season.

This move would also see Messi linking up with his former Barcelona teammate Neymar Jr. The duo along with Luis Suarez had set the Spanish league on fire, also winning a UEFA Champions League title in the process.

Fans Reaction at FC Barcelona

Seeing Lionel Messi in some other football kit would be a tough pill to swallow for the Barcelona faithful. Fans were seen swarming outside the Camp Nou, With some fans even breaking down.

It would obviously be very weird to see FC Barcelona take the field next season without their iconic number 10. But for Messi, there is going to be a new challenge. It is to be seen whether it’s going to be in Paris or in some other place.
