PSG Head Coach Christophe Galtier has confirmed that talismanic striker Lionel Messi will be parting ways with French club PSG. Messi will be playing his last game versus Clermont on Saturday and that will the end of Messi’s chapter in France.
Galtier confirmed the same at the pre-match press conference on Thursday and sent the entire footballing world into a frenzy.
“I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football,” said Galtier. “This will be his last match at the Parc des Princes and I hope that he will receive the warmest of welcomes,” said PSG Head Coach Christophe Galtier.
“This year, he has been an important part of the team, always available. I don’t think any of the comments or criticisms are justified. He’s always been there for the team. It’s been a great privilege to accompany him throughout the season,” he added.
Across all competitions, the 35-year-old netted 21 goals and had 20 assists under his belt. He was a major force to reckon with in the PSG camp and conjured magic in all the games he had played.
Partnering with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, Lionel Messi guided PSG to two Ligue-1 titles in both the seasons he spent at PSG. This proves the fact that he was one of the most important players in the team and the player’s morale boosted up by significant levels when he was in the dressing room and in the pitch.
Combining the two seasons, Lionel Messi notched up 32 goals in 74 games. He also had 35 assists across all competitions.

The 35-year-old forward joined PSG in 2021 when he left Barcelona after 21 years at the club due to the club’s financial situations. It was a watershed moment for Messi and the fans as well of the Catalan Giants.
