Super Copa 2023-24: Real Madrid Demolish Arch-Rivals Barcelona 4-1 In Finals

Date:

After being involved in a high-octane semi-final game versus Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid have now steamrolled past Barcelona in the finals. The margin was 4-1 and it was an absolute dominant performance for Los Blancos.

The scoreline of the semi-final was 5-3 in favour of Carlo Ancelotti and co. and they had played a dominant brand of football whilst displaying nerves of steels. In the finals too, the domination was visible.

Vinicius Junior scored a hattrick and it was quite a walk in the park for Real Madrid in the finals of the Super Copa 2023-24. Rodyrgo had scored the other goal for them in the 64th minute of the game.

For the Catalan Giants, Robert Lewandowski had scored the lone goal in the 33rd minute of this match. Even though he pulled back a goal, it went in vain as Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo were breathing fire.

Vinicius Junior had netted a brace in the opening 10 minutes of the match and post his first goal, he had done the iconic ‘Siu’ celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo. He even later revealed that the celebration of the goal was a tribute to Ronaldo.

“The celebration was dedicated to Cristiano Ronaldo, because he is my idol and now he plays here,” said Vinicius Junior post the game.

Real Madrid are now the second-most successful team in Super Copa

Post their win on 14th January 2024, Real Madrid have now bagged 13 titles in this competition. This is just 1 behind Barcelona’s record of 14 titles and they would be keen on crossing them in the coming years.

Notably, this is also Real Madrid’s third-straight El Classico victory and they would be brimming with confidence and momentum.

Manager of Barcelona, Xavi, later confessed that Barcelona didn’t play their “best game”.

“We have not shown the level required for a match like this. We played our worst game. We weren’t comfortable at any point. Madrid hurt us on the counter. I apologise to the fans because it was hard for us to compete and we showed our worst side,” said Xavi post the game.
