Krafton said on April 18 that CannonBoltz would not be allowed to compete in the BGIS 2024 as a result of their transgressions of the competition’s code of conduct.
The squad competed in Week 1 of the Grind tournament on April 7 after being seeded into Group 7. They finished third in the group after scoring 28 points in three games.
But it became out that their players had been using illegal software to give them an advantage in games.
Following CannonBoltz’s disqualification, each of the 15 teams in Group 7 has been awarded two points. In the same group as the best performer, Team Soul is also a fan favorite.
The last three matches of the competition, which will take place in the third and fourth weeks, will feature all 255 teams of the Grind.
Reason for disqualification from BGIS 2024 The Grind
The organizer stated that CannonBoltz’s players were using unapproved software and breaking the rules of conduct, which resulted in their formal suspension from the whole BGIS 2024. According to Krafton:
“Team CannonBoltz has been officially banned from participating in BGIS 2024 due to violations of the tournament’s Code of Conduct/Ruleset. An investigation confirmed that Team CannonBoltz engaged in activities that directly violated these rules. The specific infractions involved using unauthorized software modifications and collaborating with other players wipped with cheating devices.”
They also stated:
“Due to the disqualification of Team CannonBoltz, their accumulated total of 28 points will now be redistributed equally among the 15 remaining teams in Group 7. Each team will receive an additional 2 points. This decision is made to maintain the competitive balance within the group and ensure no team is unduly disadvantaged by the exclusion of a competitor.”
Team Soul tops the overall tally with 70 points at the conclusion of Week 2. Cratic and Hyderabad Hydras, with 56 and 55 points, respectively, are ranked second and third.
With 48 points, the well-known team GodLike Esports is ranked seventh, followed by Revenant, Orangutan, and Entity Gaming, with 41, 37, and 35 points, respectively.
