‘Facing Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult in IPL Helped In Facing Jofra Archer’ – Ishan Kishan After Scoring Fifty On Debut Against England

Date:

India defeated England by 7 wickets in the 2nd game of the three-match T20I series. The hosts performed quite brilliantly in all respective departments of the game. Meanwhile, debutant Ishan Kishan managed to pull-off scintillating half-century with his willow. He beautifully played his strokes against the likes of Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, and Ben Stokes. The southpaw in the post-match conference said that his experience of playing against Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult helped him in playing against one of the quickest in international cricket.

Ishan Kishan was a surprise addition to the team for the 2nd T20I. The hosts had already lost the series opener poorly. The fans thought that there will be a change in the bowling, who failed to restrict the opponent from chasing down the total in the 1st game. However, the Indian skipper approached the game differently and added one more specialist batter in the side and his idea turned the fortunes of Team India.

Ishan Kishan Credits IPL Experience For His Success In Debut T20I Game

Ishan Kishan replaced Shikhar Dhawan and opened alongside KL Rahul. The southpaw looked aggressive as he began smashing England bowler from the word go. He amassed 56 runs off 32 balls studded with five boundaries and four sixes. He also stitched a partnership of 93 runs with Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

The latter, who dismissed in the 1st T20I for a duck also looked in his prime and smashed 73 runs, and played important role in making his side win the game.

Post-match, Ishan Kishan said that IPL experience always helps a batsman or bowler. He asserted that facing a bowler bowling at a speed of 150 km/hr is not an easy task. But, playing strokes against such bowlers always gives a major boost to a batsman.

“Yes, I think it helps obviously. To face bowlers almost clocking almost 150 kph in the nets and playing shots against them is a huge confidence booster before a game. It has given me the belief that I can tackle fast bowlers at the international level as well.

“Plus, during the IPL you get to face international pacers like Boult, James Pattinson, Nathan Coulter-Nile, etc., which helps the batsmen get used to playing quality seam and swing bowling,” Kishan said after the game.

Ishan Kishan also added that Team India had a bad 1st game. But, they had to stick with their normal routine and had to work on their weak link. As per him, this helped Team India in making a strong comeback in the ongoing T20I series.

“There was nothing to be changed from the first game. Yes, we had a bad game but we still have to stick to the process and execute our plans better. It is important to not deviate much from the plans you set before the match. And we did exactly that tonight.

“We knew the wicket would get comparatively easier to bat in the second innings and decided to target certain bowlers,” he added.
