Indian selectors have given chance to some new faces for the T20I series against England that is slated to begin from March 12. Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, and Ishan Kishan are the lucky ones, who have managed to get a call-up from the national selectors. Now, VVS Laxman has come up with an opinion that debutants might not like.
Suryakumar Yadav was in the fray for a long. But for some reason, he never got picked by the national selectors. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan and Rahul Tewatia impressed everyone with their performance in the IPL 2020. Also, they did an exceptional job in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 that forced national selectors to pick them in the team for the T20I series against England.
VVS Laxman Says Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, And Ishan Kishan Will Not Get Chance Against England
However, VVS Laxman feels that the debutants might not get a chance in any of the games keeping the batting order in mind. As per him, Team India has a settled batting line-up that comprises KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya.
“I don’t see them getting a chance because you have a settled middle order. I would love to see continuity as far as the No.4 position is concerned and Shreyas Iyer would be my choice as far as batting at No.4,” said VVS Laxman.
He also added that Rishabh Pant should come and bat at number five position followed by Hardik Pandya in 6th position. Meanwhile, he also looked optimistic while saying that all three debutants are very talented and they will perform to the best of their abilities whenever they will get the opportunity to play.
“I would love to see Rishabh Pant back in the mix, batting at No.5 and then you have got Hardik Pandya at No.6. So, I don’t see Suryakumar Yadav or Ishan Kishan or for that matter Tewatia getting a chance but whenever they get a chance I am sure all of them will perform and play to the best of their abilities,” said VVS Laxman.
