India registers record victory against England in the ongoing Test series by 317 runs in the 2nd affair. The hosts have marked a strong comeback against the visitors. They lost the series opener by a margin of 227 runs. However, now Virat Kohli & Co. have defeated the same opponent on the same ground with a bigger margin. And, Ravi Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Rohit Sharma emerged as the hero for Team India in Chennai Test.
India won the toss and elected to bat first in the 2nd Test. The batsmen proved the skipper’s decision right and they gave an extraordinary performance with the bat. Rohit Sharma, who was struggling before the 2nd Test, looked in full flow with the willow. He played a remarkable knock of 161 runs on a difficult track that was supporting the spinners. He helped Team India in scoring a total of 329 runs in the 1st innings.

Coming onto the chase, Indian spinners went berserk against England batting unit. They didn’t allow the visitors to get settled on the pitch. Meanwhile, Ravi Ashwin took full advantage of his home ground and grabbed his 29th five-wicket haul dismissing some important wickets of the opponents. In England was castled for a score of 134 runs.
The hosts could sense the winning smell and they didn’t want to give a single ray of hope to the English side. So, they kept batting till the last wicket on Day-3 with Ashwin setting the stage ablaze with his brilliant batting skills. He smashed his 5th ton and broke several records like he became the first player to score a century and take five wickets in a Test match on the home ground etc.
However, he was dismissed at his individual score of 106 by Olly Stone. England got an impossible target of 428 runs to chase on the final two days of the game. But visitors batsmen looked fully out of touch and they failed in giving a tough fight in the 2nd innings. None of the English batsmen could manage a single fifty in the 2nd innings.
They never looked in-game during the 2nd innings as they had no answer for the turning deliveries of the Indian spinners. In the end, Kuldeep Yadav finished the game by taking the wicket of England tailender Olly Stone. And, India managed their biggest victory against England in Tests by 317 runs.
Axar Patel, who made his Test debut, took his first five-wicket haul and became the only sixth Indian bowler to do so.
