IND vs SA
India vs South Africa 1st test match:
The first test match of India vs South Africa is being played in Vizag and once again, like the One-day cricket, Rohit Sharma has proved himself why he is considered one of the best openers in the history of cricket. On the first day of the test match played between South Africa and India, the only dominant force standing at the crease was ‘The Hitman’ Rohit Sharma as he displayed a classic inning.
What made everyone wonder was that it was his first test match as an opener in the test cricket otherwise he is always sent down the order in red-ball cricket. However, his debut made it clear that a force has arrived. He opened the innings for India and scored 115 runs. These runs included 12 fours and 5 huge sixes. The play was interrupted due to bad light so they had to take a tea break. Whereas, the last session was totally suspended due to rain.
The opening stand of the Indian team posted 202 runs on the first day of the test match and no wicket had fallen so far. Mayank Agarwal was the batsman alongside Rohit Sharma who also played an important role in building this partnership. He played a great knock of 84 runs, which include 13 fours and no sixes and remained unbeaten on the first day. He also showed the whole world what he is capable of when he is in red-hot form.
- The violent opening stand:
Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal piled up many runs in their opening partnership for India against South Africa in the first test match. Matches are always won based on partnerships and if a team gets a 200-run partnership on the first day and still both the openers are not out then a high-class performance will be required by the opponent team to tie or win the test match. The partnership between Rohit and Agarwal has become the highest partnership by an Indian opening pair in the test match. Virender Sehwag and Sanjay Bangar held the previous record where they were able to score 201 runs in a test match. This partnership took place in the first test match played between India and West Indies in 2002 at Wankhede stadium in India.
- Record for Rohit Sharma:
Rohit Sharma is now the first Indian to score a century while opening the innings in all three formats of the game. Before his first test match century, while opening the innings, he has already scored 4 t20 international centuries and 25 one-day international centuries.
He has become the fourth player in the list of century scoring players for India in the test matches as a maiden test opener. No other player has been able to achieve this feat so far and also looks difficult because Rohit Sharma is a pure classy and aggressive player and no one can meet his class as an opener in the Indian squad.
South Africa’s toss losing streak:
South Africa lost eighth consecutive test match loss while playing in Asia. South Africa has been continuously losing tosses and matches. Out of the last seven test matches that were played by South Africa in Asia 5 have been lost, two have been drawn, and in all these test matches, South Africa lost the toss. In this test match, the toss was won by India and the condition of the South African team resembles the previous lost and tied test matches.
