3 Reasons Why Royal Challengers Bangalore Might Not Win IPL 2024

Date:

Despite not winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) even once, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are one of the most-talked about teams in this league. They are one of the most popular teams in the IPL and has been in the limelight, since their inception in 2008.

RCB had a disappointing season in IPL 2023 as they couldn’t finish in the top 4. Faf Du Plessis and co. finished in the 6th position in the points table and had registered 7 wins and 7 losses in their 14 games.

They didn’t have a good IPL 2023 auction and experts, pundits and commentators have rated RCB as one of the weakest teams in the upcoming IPL 2024. Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise to us if they once again fail to win the title and their wait for their inaugural title just continues.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why Royal Challengers Bangalore might not win the upcoming IPL 2024:

1. Overdependence on a few players

The story of RCB has always revolved around their over-dependence on a few cricketers. The likes of Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell are the vital cogs of this RCB team. Virat and Du Plessis has been scoring the major chunk of RCB’s runs and this overdependence has often shot them in the foot.

If this continues, then RCB fans will need to plunge into darkness, once again in IPL 2024. We need to remember that individual players don’t win you titles; it is a team effort that results in a trophy in the high-voltage Indian Premier League.

2. Lack of quality spinners

RCB made a major blunder in the IPL 2024 auctions by not getting enough spinners. They only have Karn Sharma in their bowling department as a top spinner and this might not be enough for them.

Glenn Maxwell can chip in with a few overs and he had done so for Australia in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. But he is a part-time spinner and depending on him might not be a wise decision.

3. Lack of impactful pacers

Even though Royal Challengers Bangalore bought a few quality seamers in the form of Alzarri Joseph, Tom Curran and Lockie Ferguson, there seems to be a lack of an X-factor in them.

We feel that Mohammad Siraj would have a lot of pressure on him and this might add to the problems of RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
