Sunil Gavaskar praises AB de Villiers after latter managed a match-saving knock for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Delhi Capitals. The former Proteas player slammed 75 runs off 42 balls studded with 3 boundaries and five sixes. And, RCB won the game by a margin of one run.

RCB is having a fine IPL 2021 season and they are currently leading the points table with 10 points in six games. The main reason behind RCB’s success is the consistency of AB de Villiers in the middle-order for Challengers. So far, he has managed 204 runs at a strike rate of more than 174. He was once again on fire against DC.

The senior player played a swashbuckling knock of unbeaten 73 runs in order to rescue his side from the early setbacks. AB de Villiers also managed 23 runs in the final over of the innings that helped RCB in reaching a respectable total.

Sunil Gavaskar, who is a big admirer of AB de Villiers batting, said that it is always something magical to watch former Proteas batsman batting on the field. He added that anyone will walk around the earth to watch him bat.

The former Indian cricketer also asserted that he always wants to watch AB de Villiers batting throughout the match in the shorter format when he is in red-hot form.

“It’s amazing, it’s just magical. You can walk around the earth just to see AB de Villiers bat. He brings so much joy, he makes your jaw drop with the kind of audacity with which he plays the shots,” Gavaskar said.

“When you see a genius like that, you want to watch him carry on. You want to say ‘why don’t you send him to open the batting because we can get to see more of him?’. Let’s see 20 overs of AB de Villiers. That’s what I, as a former batsman, always say when I see him in this kind of form,” he added.
