Delhi Capitals Suffers Major Setback, Star Spinner Leaves IPL 2021 To ‘Support Family’ Amid The Pandemic

Delhi Capitals star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has pulled out of IPL 2021 amid pandemic in order to be with his family in such alarming conditions. Ravi Ashwin informed bad news to DC fans post his franchise victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a competitive affair.

Delhi Capitals got off the mark brilliantly in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Rishabh Pant-led side has won four out of their five games and they are currently in 2nd position with 8 points. They are just behind Chennai Super Kings with net run-rate being the separator.

It is known that the condition in India has certainly gone from bad to worse after the 2nd wave of Covid-19. The national capital is once again facing a two week lockdown due to a sudden spike in the positive cases of Covid-19.

DC has successfully played their Chennai leg and will be heading towards the next phase of the tournament. But, Ravi Ashwin has some different plans and he wants to be with his family in such alarming conditions. He took to his official Twitter handle and shared a post that read, “I would be taking a break from this year’s IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals.”

Earlier, Aussie player Liam Livingstone and Andre Tye were the players, who pulled out of the tournament due to current conditions in the India and they travelled back to their home nation.
