The Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2024 was historic and memorable in several ways. Two Australian seamers in the form of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc broke the bank and bagged lucrative deals that made people’s jaw get dropped.

While Cummins was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a whopping amount of Rs. 20.50 crores, Mitchell Starc became the highest-bought player in the history of IPL after he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping amount of Rs. 24.75 crores.

Apart from the renowned players getting big bucks, there are several uncapped players who have hogged the limelight. The IPL has essentially changed their life as they now have an opportunity and platform to showcase their skills and talent.

In this article, we take a look at 5 lesser-known uncapped players in the recently-concluded IPL 2024 auction:

1. Sameer Rizvi (Chennai Super Kings)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) splashed a lot of money for Sameer Rizvi at the recently-concluded IPL 2024 Auctions. He was bought for a whopping amount of Rs. 8.4 crores by the Yellow Brigade and would be hoping to impress one and all.

Rizvi was the third highest run-getter at the Uttar Pradesh T20 League 2023, with 455 runs under his belt. Notably, he had smashed 2 centuries in this tournament.

2. Arshin Kulkarni (Lucknow Super Giants)

Bought at his base price of Rs. 20 lakhs, Lucknow Super Giants have made a steal deal while purchasing Arshin Kulkarni. A talented all-rounder, Kulkarni had smashed 117 runs in just 50 deliveries in a game between Puneri Bappa and Eagle Nashik Titans in the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2023.

In the U-19 Asia Cup 2023, Kulkarni had scored 138 runs and had finished as India’s highest run-getter. Notably, he had also taken 4 wickets and had finished as India’s third-highest wicket-taker.

3. Shubham Dubey (Rajasthan Royals)

Known for his swashbuckling abilities with the willow, Shubham Dubey’s life witnessed a major turnaround when he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for an amount of Rs. 5.8 crores in the IPL 2024 Auctions on 19th December 2023.

Dubey has played 20 T20s so far and has a fantastic strike-rate of 145.20.

4. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (Kolkata Knight Riders)

18-year-old batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders on 19th December 2023 at the IPL 2024 Auctions in Dubai. He represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and was in the watchful eyes of the think-tank of KKR.

He was India’s highest run-scorer in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022, with 278 runs under his belt. We can expect Raghuvanshi to have a good IPL season, if given the opportunities at KKR.

5. Kumar Kushagra (Delhi Capitals)

Delhi Capitals went all guns blazing while securing the services of Kumar Kushagra. The 20-year-old youngster from Jharkhand was bagged for a jaw-dropping amount of Rs. 7.20 crores and he has grabbed the headlines for this deal.

Kushagra had scored 266 runs in a pre quarter-final game between Nagaland and Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 and at the age of 17, became the youngest batter to score 250 runs or more in a first class game.
