The 37th game between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians was not for faint-hearted people that crossed every limit and competition between the two teams was at its all-time high. In the end, the Kings managed to grab their 2nd consecutive win and successfully brought Mumbai Indians winning streak to a halt. Soon, James Neesham, who was not even part of the game, came out with a hilarious statement after his side won.
James Neesham has been one of the unluckiest cricketers when it comes down to Super-Over. During the 2019 World Cup final, he was part of the Super-Over that New Zealand lost to England. In CPL 2019, he was part of the Trinbago Knight Riders and they lost a Tie-Breaking over to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. In that game, Carlos Brathwaite took the charge against the Kiwi bowler and managed to win it for the Patriots.
Neesham reacts after KXIP clinches win
Although, he was not part of the match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians. But, he was in the squad of Kings. In the breathless encounter, a total of two rounds of Super-Over were played between the aforementioned sides. And, the competition level between them was at its optimum level. None of them was in terms of losing the game. It was full of twists and turns and the fight was for the two important points.
KXIP never looked the favorites to win the tie-breaker due to their record and performance under pressure situations. Earlier, this season they had already lost a Super-Over to Delhi Capitals. But, this time they left no stone unturned on the back of Mohammed Shami’s brilliant bowling, Mayank Agarwal’s world-class fielding and batting in the Super-Over, and a monstrous six from Chris Gayle off Trent Boult. All these instances guided KXIP to a win that was worth every penny.
Soon after the game, the 30-year-old Kiwi all-rounder took to his official Twitter handle and replied to a fan, “I am dead inside.”
Neesham was bought by Kings XI Punjab in the auction ahead of IPL 2020. He was dropped from the side due to his poor bowling and batting form in the ongoing tournament. He has played only 3 games in which he has notched seven runs and grabbed one wicket.
