IPL 2023 DC Changes

The Delhi Capitals (DC) are struggling in the IPL 2023 without regular captain Rishabh Pant. The Capitals have lost all four games under David Warner’s leadership, failing to put up a fight against their opponents. The Delhi hitters have consistently struggled to score big, resulting in poor results in their previous matches.

The story is similar for their bowlers, who appeared to lack discipline while failing to rack up wickets for the side. The Delhi Capitals (DC) have been one of the most consistent teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in recent seasons, but their performance in IPL 2023 has been disappointing.

With a few key changes, DC can avoid more losses and bounce back strongly in IPL 2023. Here are three changes DC needs to do to avoid more losses in the upcoming season.

Strengthen the Middle Order

The middle order became one of the primary areas where DC struggled in IPL 2023. Big players like Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell failed to convert their starts into big scores, resulting in the squad losing all matches.

DC must solve this issue by strengthening its middle order. They can look to invest in experienced middle-order batsmen to help stabilise innings and support the lower order.

After receiving poor figures from him in the previous two games, skipper Warner and team management may see Phil Salt as the best choice for DC in the upcoming matches. He is known for his aggressive approach and may benefit the DC squad.

Sort Out the Bowling Combinations

In IPL 2023, DC’s bowling unit is another area of concern. Even though they have some exceptional players, including Mustafizur Rahman, Anrich Nortje, and Kuldeep Yadav, their lack of consistency impacts the team’s chances.

DC must decide on its bowling lineups and designate the proper roles for each of its bowlers. They must guarantee that their bowlers are well-prepared with a variety of variations and have an established strategy for every match scenario. This can include changing the bowling order, making better use of the bench strength, and placing the fields better.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who has done well in domestic competition, could be given a chance in DC’s starting XI.

Improve Fielding Standards

In T20 cricket, fielding is often overlooked, despite the fact that it has a significant impact on the result of a game. The fielding of DC has not been up to par thus far in IPL 2023, with lost catches and misfields costing them dearly in pivotal situations.

DC must improve its fielding requirements and make them a key part of its strategy. Regular fielding drills with an emphasis on catching, ground fielding, and throwing precision can be quite effective in cutting down on unneeded runs and presenting possibilities to take wickets.
