IPL 2023: Brett Lee Feels This LSG All-Rounder Is A Future Captain In Making

Date:

Former Australian speedster and present cricket pundit Brett Lee has lavished praise on Marcus Stoinis for his breath-taking performance against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Marcus Stoinis blasted his way to an explosive 72-run knock in just 40 deliveries and powered LSG to an imposing total of 257 runs in 20 overs. LSG eventually flexed their muscles and won the game versus PBKS by 56 runs.

Brett Lee was extremely impressed with Stoinis’s all-round skills and said that he is a future captain in the making.

“He is a captain in the making. He has got a great cricket brain. Look how relaxed he is around the team. He is a freak, that is the best way to describe him. He performs with the bat and the ball, and his throwing arm is very powerful,” said Marcus Stoinis on JioCinema.

Lee also praised his fielding skills and labelled him as a “complete package”.

“He also takes good catches. He is a complete package. But tonight, he showed his class. This was a time when the team went from a low, slow and hard wicket at home to a wicket where the ball was coming nicely on the bat. So, he definitely cashed in tonight,” added Brett Lee.

LSG posted a mammoth total of 257 runs in the previous IPL 2023 game

Lucknow Super Giants posted the 2nd highest total in the IPL as they scored 257 runs. They went all guns blazing from the word go and showed absolutely no respite to the bowlers of Shikhar Dhawan’s Punjab Kings.

Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran had good outings with the willow as they scored 54 and 45 runs respectively. Lucknow’s bowlers in the form of Naveen-ul-Haq and Yash Thakur took wickets and they sealed the deal for Lucknow.

Stoinis took a wicket too and was deservedly awarded with the player of the match award.

Lucknow next lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 1st May 2023 and the match will be taking place at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow. It is slated to begin from 7:30 PM (IST).

The last time when these two teams met in IPL 2023, Lucknow won the game by 1 wicket. It was an edge-of-the-seat thriller and went right down to the wire. There was plenty of drama and excitement and we can expect the same when they play again in their reverse fixture.
