IPL 2023: Gill’s Maiden IPL Century And Shami-Sharma Show Lead Gujarat Titans To Play-offs

Date:

Shubman Gill’s maiden IPL century and impressive performances by Mohammad Shami and Mohit Sharma helped the Gujarat Titans qualify for the Play-offs with a convincing win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Gujarat Titans put up a competitive score of 188/9 after a brilliant performance by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took five wickets for just 31 runs. Shami then ripped through the Sunrisers’ top order, taking four wickets for 21 runs, while Mohit took four for 24 to restrict them to 154/9.

The Sunrisers got off to a poor start as they lost three wickets inside the Powerplay. Anmolpreet Singh was dropped early, but he was caught off Shami’s bowling three balls later. Yash Dayal then took his first wicket of the season, having Abhishek Sharma caught behind, and Shami dismissed Rahul Tripathi, who was caught at slip by Rahul Tewatia.

Shami continued his excellent form, taking three wickets in the Powerplay, as Markram was caught at point off a leading edge. Klaasen kept fighting, but the Titans’ bowlers were too good for the Sunrisers as they lost wickets in quick succession. Klaasen was finally dismissed by Shami, who finished with four wickets for 21 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar got off to a great start, taking a wicket in the first over, but Sudharsan and Gill then took control of the innings.
