Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden lavished praise for Shubman Gill of Gujarat Titans (GT) and drew comparison of him with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
Hayden said that Gill has the capability and potential to carry forward the legacy of Indian team stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
“Oh yes, Shubman is already in the Sachin-Virat league. World cricket needs heroes, and he has everything in his game that will help him achieve those heights,” said Matthew Hayden in an interview with Times of India.
Shubman Gill has been in stupendous form and has been scoring runs consistently everywhere. Be it in international cricket or in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Shubman Gill has been scoring runs quite well.
Gujarat Titans mentor Garry Kirsten too lavished praise on Gill and didn’t hold back from complimenting him.
“Shubman Gill has developed into a class player; just see his run of form with the Indian team. The next level for Shubman is how he can take his skills and have a greater impact. He is on an upward curve of progress, has good thinking, and has an idea of how he can succeed,” said Gary Kirsten.
Shubman Gill is GT’s top-scorer in this season
The young 23-year-old batter has been Gujarat’s top-scorer in this season and has been their knight in shining armour. Pairing alongside Wriddhiman Saha, Gill has provided a lot of stability at the top and has been brilliant with his stroke-play.
In 6 matches so far, Shubman has mustered 228 runs and has an average of 38.00. If he continues to play like this then Gujarat can well once again qualify for the playoffs.
