The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has had a long list of injured players. From Shreyas Iyer to Prasidh Krishna, several stars of the Indian cricket team have been ruled out of the 16th edition of the tournament. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) too are a side that has been plagued by several injuries.
Talismanic skipper and iconic finisher MS Dhoni has suffered a knee injury and this was confirmed by Head Coach Stephen Fleming. Notably, Dhoni almost won the game for CSK in their previous game against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
He had smashed 2 sixes in the final over off Sandeep Sharma and the entire stadium went into a frenzy. However, the wily and experienced pacer kept his nerve during his crunch moment and eventually had the last laugh.
Several other players of CSK are going through injuries and this has majorly jolted the balance of the 4-time IPL winners.

1. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is nursing a knee injury which he had picked during the game versus Rajasthan Royals. He was limping while batting and he was struggling to convert singles into doubles.
2. Sisanda Magala
Even after being economical in his first 2 overs, South African pacer Sisanda Magala wasn’t given his last 2 overs. Head Coach Stephen Fleming then stated that he had injured his fingers. Magala had split his webbing in his hand and that’s why he couldn’t bowl his remaining overs.
3. Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of IPL 2023 for a couple of weeks as he is going through a left leg hamstring issue. CSK is operating on limited resources and the absence of Deepak Chahar could prove to be costly for MS Dhoni’s team.
4. Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is suffering from a toe injury and has been missing from the squad of CSK. According to sources, he doesn’t want to rush his return as the Ashes is one the cards and Stokes wants to be the 4th seamer for the team.
5. Mukesh Chaudhary
Mukesh Chaudhary was ruled out of IPL 2023 because of a back injury. He had a stellar IPL 2022 season and was one of the pick of the bowlers for CSK. In 13 games, he had bagged 16 wickets.
6. Kylie Jamieson
Kylie Jamieson was acquired by CSK in the IPL 2023 auctions for a price of Rs. 1 crore. He was ruled out of the tournament because of a back injury and Sisanda Magala was named as the replacement.
7. Simarjeet Singh
After missing almost, the entire last domestic season, Simarjeet Singh is on the road to recovery. He hasn’t played competitive T20 cricket for a long time and CSK wouldn’t want to field someone who isn’t 120% fit.
