IPL 2023: PBKS’ Prabhsimran Singh And Harpreet Brar Shine In Crucial Win Over DC

Date:

The Punjab Kings secured a crucial win over the Delhi Capitals in match 59 of IPL 2023, thanks to the heroics of Prabhsimran Singh and Harpreet Brar.

Singh, the young opener, scored his maiden IPL century, smashing 103 off just 65 balls, to guide his team to a competitive total of 167/7.

Meanwhile, Brar, the left-arm spinner, produced a lethal bowling performance, taking four wickets for just 30 runs, as the Delhi Capitals were restricted to 136/8, losing the match by 31 runs.

David Warner, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, earlier decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Ishant Sharma struck early, getting the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan in the second over.

PBKS lost three more wickets cheaply, including the in-form Jitesh Sharma, as DC kept the pressure on. However, Prabhsimran took the attack to the DC bowlers, smashing two sixes and a four off Mitchell Marsh to break the shackles.

He went on to score his maiden IPL century off just 61 balls, hitting 103 off 65, before being dismissed in the penultimate over. Despite some late hitting from Sikandar Raza, DC managed to restrict PBKS to 167/7.

Chasing 168, Delhi Capitals got off to a blistering start, with David Warner and Phil Salt taking the attack to the Punjab Kings bowlers.

In the Powerplay, the duo smashed 11 fours and a six to help DC reach 65/0 after six overs. However, Brar finally provided the breakthrough, cleaning up Salt for 21 off 17.

Warner brought up his 60th IPL fifty off just 23 balls, but soon after, the wickets started tumbling for the home side. Brar claimed three more wickets, including that of Warner for 54 off 27, as DC lost six wickets for just 14 runs.

Despite a brief resistance from Aman Khan and Praveen Dubey, DC eventually fell short by 31 runs.

With this win, Punjab Kings moved to sixth in the table, while Delhi Capitals were knocked out of the competition.

Prabhsimran was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning century, while Brar’s lethal bowling performance was equally impressive. The Punjab Kings will now look to build on this win and finish the season on a high.
