Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a pretty good outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and they finished as the runners-up. The Sanju Samson led side fell short to Gujarat Titans (GT) in the finals and that ended their dream run in IPL 2022.
In the upcoming IPL, Rajasthan have made some stellar additions to their side and the biggest of them is Jason Holder. The experienced all-rounder is a gun player in the T20 format and is a sheet match winner.
Rajasthan have a strong side and there are high chances that they end up lifting their 2nd IPL title. Notably, the Jaipur based franchise has won the IPL title once, in 2008.
In this article, we take a look at Rajasthan Royals strongest playing XI in IPL 2023:
IPL 2023: RR Best Predicted Playing XI
Openers: Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal
The left-hand right-hand opening combination of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal will prove to be one of the biggest strengths of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. This opening duo is known to give fiery starts to the team and they did the same in the previous edition of the IPL.
English batter Jos Buttler finished as the leading run getter in IPL 2022 with 863 runs under his belt and he also smashed 4 centuries in the tournament. It was an absolute fairy-tale for him.
Middle-order: Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmeyer
The middle-order boasts of some formidable names and 2 of them are quality Indian players who have also represented the national team.
Hard-hitting middle-order batter Shimron Hetmeyer is known for smearing the bowlers across the park and he can be a big game-changer for Rajasthan Royals. Till date, the 26-year-old West Indian has played 46 matches in the IPL and has mustered 831 runs.
Lower-order: Jason Holder, Riyan Parag
Jason Holder’s addition adds a lot of balance to the side. He can easily give 4 overs to skipper Sanju Samson and can also tonk the ball extremely hard.
Riyan Parag recently had a good Guwahati Premier League (GPL) and would be brimming with confidence. The RR management has time and again reposed faith in him and its time, he gives something back to his franchise.
Bowlers: Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sandeep Sharma and Trent Boult
As Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of IPL 2023, Rajasthan named IPL veteran Sandeep Sharma as his replacement. Along-side Trent Boult, the duo can be extremely lethal in the powerplay and with the new ball.
Rajasthan unarguably have the best spin bowling combination in the IPL in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. Leg-spinner Chahal had won the Purple Cap award (award for taking most wickets in an IPL season) and he took 27 wickets.
