Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, was fined Rs. 12 lakh for his slow overrate in this Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Chennai Super Kings.
With many games lasting more than four hours, over rate is proving to be a problem in the IPL once more.
“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, captain Sanju Samson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” read an IPL media advisory.
In IPL 2023, Royals captain Sanju Samson fell for the duck second time in a row. In the ninth over, Samson was clean-bowled by Ravindra Jadeja for a two-ball duck. Devdutt Padikkal, who was removed for 38 off of 26 balls, was returned by Jadeja a few deliveries early.
Sandeep Sharma’s 20th over performance helped Rajasthan defeat CSK by one run on Wednesday. He stopped M S Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. In contrast, CSK lost their second game of the season. Rajasthan had won three of their previous four games.
