IPL 2024: 3 Reasons Why Rishabh Pant Can Win The Orange Cap

Date:

Rishabh Pant’s coming-back-to-form has been the biggest pluses of Indian cricket. After being involved in a horrific car accident on 30th December 2022, Rishabh Pant staged a comeback into competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, after missing out on cricketing action for 15 months.

And Pant has instantly delivered the goods with the blazing blade. He is the leading run-getter of Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2024 and is the third-highest run-getter in IPL 2024. Pant has led his troops from the front and has faced the bullets in the line of fire.

DC have registered 4 wins in IPL 2024 thus far and Rishabh Pant is slowly sending out a statement; that he is match-ready for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and could possibly be India’s next captain post Rohit Sharma.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why Rishabh Pant can win the Orange Cap in IPL 2024:

1. The top order of Delhi Capitals haven’t played as a unit

The openers of DC haven’t clicked as a unit and have often squandered their opportunities. Be it David Warner or Prithvi Shaw, the opening combination hasn’t worked for Delhi and Rishabh Pant has often come out to bat before he usually does in IPL.

David Warner has been dropped and Australian youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk has been utilised as an opening asset and it is only him who is leading the troops at the top-order. If the openers continue to misfire, then Rishabh Pant would face more deliveries and can have a solid chance of taking a crack at the Orange Cap.

2. Rishabh Pant has been in stupendous form

The wicket-keeper batter of Delhi has been in stupendous form and has been playing some audacious shots. This means that Pant has been practicing extremely hard in the nets and can be a force to reckon with, even for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Pant has amassed 342 runs in IPL 2024 and has an outstanding average of 48.86, with a highest score of 88*, which came against Gujarat Titans (GT) on 24th April 2024.

3. Plays well under pressure

Whenever DC have been staring down at the barrel, Rishabh Pant has played a counter-attacking brand of cricket. He has counter-attacked and has made sure that the pressure goes to the opposition bowling team.

This has been one of the signature trademarks of the youngster and is one of the reasons why he is regarded as the next big-thing in Indian cricket.
