Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a 28-run clinical win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and notched up their 2nd victory in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Batting first, the visitors put on a good display of batting and scored 181 runs at the end of the first innings. In a small ground like that in Bengaluru, the Lucknow batters put on a resplendent batting display and made sure that they put on a competitive total.
In response, RCB faltered under pressure and made a mess of the chase at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. This resulted in their 3rd loss in IPL 2024 and things are not looking promising for the Men in Red.
In this article, we take a look at the top 3 talking points of the RCB vs LSG game in the ongoing IPL 2024:
1. Mayank Yadav’s express pace
The 21-year-old pacer of Lucknow Super Giants, Mayank Yadav, once again grabbed the limelight as his express pace rattled the batting department of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He dismissed the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green as the Ozzie superstars were flummoxed by his express pace.
Yadav broke his own record in IPL 2024 as he clocked the fastest ball in this year’s IPL at a speed of 156.7 KMPH. Mayank Yadav was nothing short of a bullet train at Bengaluru and we believe that an India debut isn’t far away for the youngster.
2. Quinton De Kock’s class knock
Southpaw Quinton De Knock put on his A-game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as he scored 81 runs in just 56 deliveries and his knock was packed with 8 fours and 5 sixes. De Kock had a fabulous strike-rate of 144.64 and controlled the entire pace of the game.
From stylish fours to power-packed sixes, De Kock’s knock was a class act. Lucknow would be extremely pleased with the South African wicketkeeper batter’s stupendous form.
3. Glenn Maxwell impresses with the white-cherry
Despite being out for a duck in Match 15 of IPL 2024, Glenn Maxwell contributed with the ball for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Maxwell bagged 2 wickets and took the wickets of KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis as he prevented Lucknow from getting a big score.
But RCB needed him to fire with his blazing blade in a tricky run-chase and that is where he could not deliver the goods. Maxwell mistimed a pull shot and was dismissed by Mayank Yadav.
