In a strategic move ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Gujarat Titans (GT) have named Shubman Gill as their captain.
The announcement was made on Monday by Mr. Vikram Solanki, the Director of Cricket for Gujarat Titans, who commended Gill’s significant growth in stature and leadership over the past two years.
Gill, known for his prowess as a batter, has not only matured in his on-field performance but has also showcased strong leadership qualities.
Underlining Gill’s instrumental role in Gujarat Titans’ success, Solanki expressed excitement about the prospect of embarking on a new journey with the young and talented cricketer at the helm.
Gill’s contribution has been pivotal in establishing Gujarat Titans as a formidable force in the league.

The decision to appoint Gill as captain follows the departure of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans. Pandya, an Indian all-rounder, returned to his original franchise, the Mumbai Indians, after a trade between the two teams.
Pandya played a key role in Gujarat Titans’ debut season in 2022, securing a fairytale start by lifting the coveted trophy.
In the subsequent season, GT finished as runners-up after a thrilling final that ended with a last-ball defeat earlier this year. Gill’s leadership will be crucial as Gujarat Titans aim to build on their past successes and make a mark in the IPL 2024 season.
