IPL 2025 Playoffs

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has begun with a bang with all the teams looking for their first win. We have witnessed some high-end action, entertainment and drama and all the teams have gotten into groove.

While Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could not start their campaign with a victory, they made it up with a win in Guwahati versus Rajasthan Royals (RR). Under the captaincy of interim skipper Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals haven’t gotten off to the ideal start. They have encounter 2 losses on the bounce in IPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have lost their opening game at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) failed to get over the line versus Punjab Kings (PBKS). On the other hand, Delhi Capitals (DC) scripted a remarkable come-from-behind victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

In this article, we take a look at 3 IPL teams who might qualify for the playoffs in the ongoing IPL 2025:

1. Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals have faced 2 defeats on the bounce and have had a disastrous start to their IPL 2025 campaign. Their regular skipper Sanju Samson sustained a finger injury during the IND vs ENG T20I series ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and is only playing as an impact player in the first 3 games.

After losing out on Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, RR’s bowling looks depleted with star pacer Jofra Archer not getting into the groove in the 2 games. RR’s spinners include 2 quality spinners from Sri Lanka in the form of Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga and they need to punch above their weight in order for RR to do well in IPL 2025.

2. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Lucknow have been marred with injuries and their pace department has taken a hit. Mayank Yadav is recovering from a toe injury and Akash Deep is recovering from a back injury. LSG’s bowling department needs a few changes and their batting department is overtly dependent on a few star performers.

On paper, LSG have one of the weakest sides and they need to do something special in order to qualify.

3. Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Despite having one of the strongest sides in IPL, Punjab Kings might miss out on the qualification bus to the playoffs. Punjab have historically been one of the most underperforming sides in the IPL and have managed to qualify to the playoffs only twice in all the editions since 2008.

The last time they qualified to the playoffs was in IPL 2014 where they lost to KKR in the finals. Punjab Kings can once again be stuck in the mid-table chaos in the IPL.
