Mumbai Indians registered an emphatic 100-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 50 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. And one of the main reasons why MI won the game was because of the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah with the white-cherry.
Jasprit Bumrah had initially missed the first 4 matches of the IPL because of a back injury but post his comeback, he has helped Mumbai Indians win 6 out of 7 matches. Bumrah bagged 2 wickets and conceded just 15 runs in 4 overs in a run-chase that should have sparked a lot of fireworks from Rajasthan’s end.
Bumrah has bowled 69 deliveries across seven IPL 2025 matches, averaging almost 10 dot balls per game — the highest among all bowlers with an economy rate under 8.
His control in the powerplay and precision at the death make him a nightmare for batters.
In a season dominated by big hitters, Bumrah’s silence with the ball is louder than most sixes.
Adam Gilchrist Heaps Praise on Jasprit Bumrah
Former swashbuckling Australian wicket-keeper batter, Adam Gilchrist, has placed Jasprit Bumrah in the same bracket as former legendary Australian batter, Sir Don Bradman.
“He’s maybe the best bowler, fast bowler of all time. When you start stacking up the statistics and the varying conditions that he has to go out and execute those skills in, I guess you look at Sir Donald Bradman’s numbers compared to his peers and he’s just so far ahead, so I think Bumrah is sort of in that category across all the different variations that you get in conditions and pitches that you’ve got to bowl on. He’s significantly further ahead than the peers around him, so that tells you we are truly watching greatness,” said Adam Gilchrist in a conversation with CricBuzz.
Bradman is the only cricketer to retire with a Test average close to 100 — a number so surreal that no other batter with over 10 Tests even touches 65.
That’s how wide the gulf was.
Now, according to Adam Gilchrist, Jasprit Bumrah is carving out a similar legacy — creating a gap just as staggering between himself and every other fast bowler across all formats.
